could be anal fissures. Do you have stools that are difficult to pass? You should probably see a Dr. to rule-out rectal or colon cancer. They can do a colonosopy to find the source.

if it is coming out as red then the source is going to be right close to the anus so might be a tear in the bowel lining which should heal itself over time.
If the colour is black this is an indication of internal bleeding and time to get yourself round to A&E my friend.
Best wishes

There are many causes of rectal bleeding, ranging from serious to no big deal. It could be that you are straining too much during defecation, in which case I advise you eat more insoluble fiber and drink more water. However, it could also be from stomach cancer, ulcers, intestinal damage or cancer, or from polyps in the intestinal tract being damaged. Either way, it’s best to play it safe and visit your doctor. Methods used to test for various maladies that may cause rectal bleeding have become very light-hearted and agreeable to the patient, and as you should have regular sigmocolonoscopies every two years and a full colonoscopy every four, why not give it a try now?

Certainly bleeding is not a feature of IBS.
The 3 commonest causes would be haemorrhoids, tumours and coliitis. You MUST seek an urgent medical consultation.

The more common causes of rectal bleeds are internal hemorrhoids, anal fissures, diverticulosis, colon cancer, polyps, colitis and proctitis. Some rare conditions that cause rectal bleeds are a rapid and severe bleed form the upper GI tract (such as with a gastric or duaodenal ulcer) and even more rarely from a ruptured blood vessel tht leaks into the GI tract, a rectal ulcer or a small intestine tumor.
My friend, please don’t ask for a diagnosis. You can’t get one online. You need a physcial exam and most likely endoscopy. See a doctor soon.

If you are as you say a 43 year old male, you should have more sense,Go see your doctor,i know the thought is not a good one,but it could be something that can be sorted out.You will not find an answer on this net.
Good luck, and do not put it off any longer.

my thinking is as most – especially if as red as you state..
You will need to get to a dr or gp – or even Hosp..
Bleeding as much as you state – need to be looked at now – sooner than later..
It could be something small – or something more serious BUT no one can really tell you that online..
PLEASE go and have it looked into
I wish you all the best..

Haemarroids(piles) are one of the most common causes of rectal bleeding but I assume you would know if you had them. Therefore unfortunately a tumour has to be considered. The black blood is old blood which has probably taken some time to travel down the intestinal tract indicating that the problem could be high up.I really think you should see your Doc. asap.Good luck and I hope it isn’t bad news
